Self Pay FAQs

Is home care different when I/we self-pay over having Medicare, Medicaid, or a commercial insurance pay?

On the surface, no – your loved one gets the very best home care either way. However, when you are paying, there are no restrictions as to what specifics are covered. So you can get exactly what you wish right away, without worrying about whether an insurance company will approve it or not.

My mother speaks very little English. Do you have Home Health aides that speak Russian (Spanish, Chinese, etc.)?

Yes we do – we have aides fluent in English, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, and many other languages common to PA. We’ll ensure that your loved one is comfortable, and fully understood.

What about different cultures / religions? My father is very particular about certain things.

Not a problem – our home care aides are “culturally sensitive”, we’ll ensure that any cultural and/or religious needs your loved one has are respected at all times.

My mother is not sick, but she is starting to have difficulty remembering to do certain daily tasks. I am concerned that she will forget to do something that can lead to an incident (like leaving the stove on after she finishes cooking). With work and my own family, I cannot check in every day to help her. I really just need someone to check in everyday, keep her company, give her a hand when needed, and do just a little periodic cleaning and shopping. Can you provide the level of help I need?

We can do exactly what you need, and then some. For some people, we do just what you are describing above. For others, it goes further (bathing, personal care, escorting to the doctor, grocery shopping, etc.). Whatever level of service you need, for whatever length of time, we can handle it.

How do I know if it is actually safe for my parent/loved one to remain at home?

When you speak to our experienced Nurses and Geriatric Care Managers, they will supply you with the guidance you will need to make a decision that has your loved one’s best interest in mind. Quality home care is our specialty, and safety is a big factor in deciding whether or not in-home care is the best option. If home care is the right option, we can provide it. If an alternate care option is the best route to follow, we can assist you in that process as well. The bottom line is the safety and security of your loved one is paramount over everything else.
